151. Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro named UN Deputy Secretary General

  THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Asha Rose Migiro, has been appointed Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, a position which makes her second in command in one of the world’s most influential institutions. The appointment was made by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN headquarters in New York.

163. US grants 87.9m for community projects

  The US Ambassador, Michael Retzer, signed about 15 grants with community organisations worth 87.9m from the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Fund (ASSHF). ASSHF responds to request for assistance from small community projects in the country. It has improved economic and living conditions at the village level such as sanitation, education access, economic development and agricultural innovation.
 
164. Measuring and Reporting the impact of tourism on poverty

  This paper presents a brief review and critique of current ways of measuring and reporting the economic impacts of tourism on national economies. 165. FCS bags USD 2.07m support for civil society
