16. NGO receives equipment to support premature birth campaign

  A local NGO, Doris Mollel Foundation (DMF) yesterday received two oxygen concentrators and six suction machines, to support its ongoing efforts to address premature births.

An oxygen concentrator is a device which concentrates the oxygen from a gas supply (typically ambient air) to supply an oxygen enriched gas mixture.

  Approximately 400 participants and experts from around the world will discuss and identify ways of accelerating growth and economic viability in micro-insurance in a meeting to be co-hosted by, among others, the Munich Re Foundation and the Micro-insurance Network.

According to the Munich Re Foundation Vice Chairman, Mr Dirk Reihard, PharmAccess Project Manager, Dr Heri Marwa will be the speaker at ‘Parallel Session 6 – Extending National Health Insurance’ at the conference that takes place from November 3 to 5.
 
20. Cholera kills 17 in 3 Mwanza districts

  Seventeen people have died and 268 others hospitalised due to cholera outbreak in three districts in Mwanza Region.

The acting regional chief physician, Dr Magreth Magambo, confirmed the outbreak of the epidemic, saying the first case was diagnosed on September 16, this year.
