Researchers argue that MFIs are useful as they reduce poverty through increased income and standards of living; empower women; develop the business sector through growth potentials and develop a parallel financial sector. This paper examines the extent to which MFIs contribute to poverty reduction in Tanzania.

  THE Investment Climate Facility (ICF), a fund conceived to help Africa create a more attractive business environment, is moving its headquarters from Cape Town, South Africa to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. ICF is a partnership between African governments, the private sector, G8 countries and donor agencies. It focuses on improving the continent’s investment climate.
