Dear Friends,

I am writing to inform you that FADECO (a local NGO operating in Karagwe- www.fadeco.org), has been granted permission by the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) to establish and operate a content radio broadcasting station in Karagwe effective Jan 2007. This is a very great achievement for FADECO and I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all the persons and institutions that have supported to this stage.

The main objective for the establishment of this radio station is to support the implementation of the national poverty eradication strategies (MUKUKUTA) and to supplement district efforts in reaching our to the target population in Karagwe district. This radio station is intended as a DEVELOPMENT MOUTH PIECE to be used by the development community in Karagwe to effect sustainable rural socio-economic development of our district in particular and country as a whole. Because access to information is one of the limiting factor in implementing development programs, it is hoped that this facility will help bridge this communication and information flow gap.

FADECO is now in the process of requisitioning of the necessary equipment and recruitment of staff. It is anticipated that the whole process will be finalised and the radio is expected to be on air by end of March 2007 and has been assigned the 100.8 FM frequency.

This letter is intended to notify you of this development and to request you to explore opportunities of using it as a development tool to reach out to the people in Karagwe district. You are welcome to use this facility for the good and development of the district and to make best use of it as an effective and alternative mode of getting the message across to the people in Karagwe. I wish to put forward my request to you, to promote this radio station and to support this as much as you possibly can; and to use it to reach out to the community in Karagwe.
