Fair's Fair - Health Inequalities and Equity in Tanzania

Inequalities in health outcomes and health care are important. Form a ‘rights’ perspective, health policies should seek to narrow inequalities and provide equal health care for equal need. From an ‘economic’ perspective, health care resources are more efficiently used if they are directed towards the groups that need them most. This study was commissioned by the Women’s Dignity Project and Ifakara Centre for Health Research and Development. This report is a first attempt to elucidate issues of health inequalities and equity, point to key areas of concern, elaborate policy implications, and identify areas for further studies.
