Profile: Dr. Tengia –Kessy is the current Organizing Secretary of the TPHA. She is a Medical doctor (UDSM 1986) and works with the Institute of Public Health, Community Health Department of Muhimbili University College of Health, as a lecturer since July 1997. She has a Masters degree in Community Health from the University of Dar es Salaam (MUCHS 1996), Tanzania, a Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Adolescents (Stockholm 1998) and a Certificate in Consultative Research for Improving Young Child Feeding (Mombasa Kenya 1998). Dr. Tengia-Kessy has been involved in several research initiatives and has published in the area of HIV/AIDS and STDs.

Profile: Prof. Mwaikambo is the current TPHA Chairperson and a Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health. Currently, she is the Vice Chancellor of the Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU). Prof. Mwaikambo graduated as a medical doctor (M.D) in 1969 at the University of Moscow and pursued her Master of Medicine in Pediatrics in 1977 UDSM. She has worked and participated in research activities in various fields including as a Senior Research fellow of Carnegie on health and behaviour programme; Research Associate (African Women''s Health Programme) Five College Women''s Studies Research Centre, Mount Holyoke College among others


Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka (Appointed as UN-HABITAT Executive Director)

Profile: Mrs. Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka was appointed The Executive Director of UN-HABITAT in September 2000. A Tanzanian national, Mrs. Tibaijuka holds a Doctorate of Science in Agricultural Economics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. Prior to joining Habitat, Mrs. Tibaijuka was the Special Coordinator for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked and Small Island Developing Countries at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). In this role, Mrs. Tibaijuka was responsible for strengthening the capacity of LDCs in trade negotiations with the World Trade Organisation.
