Profile: Dr. Kaaya is TPHA’s Chief Editor. She works with the Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences since 1986, she currently holds the following academic, and clinical posts: Head, Department of Psychiatry Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry Head of Clinical Firm providing mental health services for Temeke District, based at the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Kaaya graduated as a medical doctor in 1985 (UDSM) and obtained a Master of Science in Medicine (Psychiatry) at the Victoria University, Manchester, Britain between (1990). She was Carnegie Fellow, Department of Social Medicine, Harvard Medical School (1992 – 1993).

Profile: Dr. Kawawa is the TPHA treasurer a position she has held since 1999. She works with PLAN International Tanzania as Country Health Advisor since 1998 and has held several medical posts including District Medical Officer (Ilala 1996-1998) and Coordinator of Urban Health Project (1996) Dr. Kawawa obtained her degree in medicine from the Beijing Medical College 1979 and a Masters in public health from the Institute of Public Health Antwerp Belgium in 1992. She has attended several short courses including counseling of HIV/AIDS patients, Health Management Information in System, and has obtained certificates in ‘Urbanization and Health’, and ‘Gender Studies’
