| TRA Income Tax Project | |
Objectives
The objective is to collect Income Tax in a fair,
effective and efficient way, and to increase
revenues.
Here the mandate area of the project is nation
wide, since it affects TRA operation on a whole.
However, in the initial systems development and
testing phase there will be emphasis in Dar es
Salaam.
Improvement of taxation means improvement in
quite different fields, such as the organisation of
taxation, services provided by the TRA to the
taxpayer, the legal base of taxation, and of course
the increase of revenues. Background
Without revenue no government is in a position to
carry out its core task: Taxation is a touchstone of
good governance, as taxation always intrudes
quite intensely into the civil rights of the citizens: not only that they have to contribute money, but also in the way, how they are compelled to do so.
