| Saadani Conservation and Development Programme |
| The governmental protective authorities, the
bufferzone communities and other stakeholders
should together protect the Saadani ecosystem
and utilise it in a sustainable way.
It is expected that by achieving this project goal
biodiversity will be promoted. In particular wildlife populations will recover. The villages will increasingly benefit from tourism and other
sustainable resource use There are plans to upgrade the reserve or part of it into a National Park. Other options like community wildlife management areas will also be examined... |

| During the 1980’s the rapid increase in poaching for ivory and rhino horn led to a catastrophic decline in Tanzania’s elephant and rhino populations. | Programme Katavi-Rukwa Conservation and Development |
| The objectives of the programme are the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources in Katavi-Rukwa, by enabling the people in the buffer zone to derive sustainable benefits from the ecosystem. To contribute to the achievement of the objectives, TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks), the Wildlife Division and the local communities have to manage the resources in the Katavi-Rukwa conservation complex sustainable. |
