| Tanzania - Urgent Roads Rehabilitation Support Program - Phase I |
| The objectives of URRSP, Phase-1 (the Project) are to remove major
constraints to transport services on the country's road network, to reduce
poverty by promoting economic activities, and to strengthen the
implementation and management capacity of TANROADS. The Project
comprises (i) feasibility studies and detailed designs of trunk and
regional roads; (ii) feasibility study of national feeder roads; (iii)
rehabilitation/upgrading of a 115 km trunk road section of the Central
Corridor; (iv) road condition survey and road inventory; and (v) technical
assistance for road sector management capacity building. The project also
includes HIV/AIDS awareness components to minimize/prevent possible

| Tanzania - Second Integrated Roads Project |
| The principal objective of the Second Integrated Roads Project is to support the country ' s economic recovery program by reducing transportation costs, improving accessibility to economically productive areas, and strengthening overall sector administration and organizational and financing arrangements in the roads subsector. The project will support: (i) upgrading, rehabilitation and maintenance of high priority trunk, regional and essential district road networks (including bridges and culverts); (ii) policy and institutional reforms to improve sector administration, management and financing of the road network and efficient provision of road transport services; (iii) a pilot program to improve village travel and transport through rehabilitation and maintenance of road infrastructure, improving access to intermediate means of transport and through non-transport interventions; and (iv) resurfacing of the runway at Kilimanjaro International Airport to improve safety and ensure continuation of services... |
