Development partners have said decentralisation process in the country is a positive move towards enabling local government authorities to play their role according to the will of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the development partners at the Local Government Support Project (LGSP) in Dar es Salaam, the Embassy of Ireland Charge d’Affair, John McCullagh, said increasing availability of development funds at local level has reduced the need for area-based funding outside the national budget.
The World Bank has approved 60 billion for a three- and a half year project to boost education, health, water and roads among other areas. |

Donors to pump 616bn/- in next budget |

A group of 14 donors has pledged to support the next national budget to the tune of 616.165bn/-, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Ramadhani Khijja announced.
He said the money would come from the European Union (EU), the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Others are Ireland, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, the World Bank and the African Development Bank. |

It builds on the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) (2000/01-02/03), the one-year PRS Review and the Medium Term Plan for Growth and Poverty Reduction and the Tanzania Mini-Tiger Plan 2020 which emphasizes the growth momentum to fast-track the Vision 2025 targets. |
